NATIONAL DUES INCREASE IS EFFECTIVE 11/1/2010 Be sure to take all old membership applications out of circulation by mid-October. Here’s why. National dues increase to $96 is effective November 1, 2010. Applications received at the national office beginning November 1 must include this new amount. If the old amount is used, national will go ahead and expedite the application, rather than return it to the prospective member, by deducting the difference ($10) from the local chapter’s dues payable. Vice Presidents of Membership will get an activity report with each new member’s information, so they can follow up with the new member to collect the missing portion of the dues, if desired. (Remember, in November and December new members get those months FREE; their dues are credited for these months and all of 2011.)

Encourage your national members to update their mailing address in the Member Expertise Profile. The 2011 invoices mail in early November so your assistance with updating mailing addresses is essential. Tips: Add this request to member communications, emails, meeting announcements, etc. Print the Labels Report in the Chapter Management Center and take to your next meeting and ask members to verify their addresses.
DEADLINE FOR CHAPTER DUES CHANGES IS OCT. 31 If your local or state chapter membership has voted to amend its dues, these amendments must be received in writing at National WCR no later than October 31.No dues changes can be implemented once the billing cycle has begun. Be sure to consult and follow your bylaws on how to approve a dues change. Send amendments to Martha Rusk mrusk@wcr.org.
2011 OFFICER REPORTING DEADLINE
Chapter officer and nominating committee elections should be held by October 15 and the 2011 Officer Report submitted to National office by November 1. Use the form in the LPPM or download the MS Word document online located on the web site Member Center Chapter Tools page.

USE THE ONLINE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
New members may join online when paying by credit card. This feature is available for NEW members only who are REALTORS, REALTOR-Associates, Affiliates with membership in a REALTOR Association or Executive Staff of REALTOR Associations. The credit card is processed immediately and members are sent an email receipt and Username and Password so they can start completing their Member Expertise Profile.
LOCAL CHAPTER BYLAWS AMENDMENTS APPROVED MAY 16, 2010 These are the new definitions for National and Local Affiliates. Staple a copy of these to the back of your current bylaws until you ready to send your bylaws to national for updating and stamping. And make sure everyone recruiting affiliates is given the new definitions.
Article II
Section 3: National Affiliate members shall hold membership in a Local Board of REALTORS®, but they may not be REALTORS®.
Section 6: Local affiliate members include individuals who are engaged in a profession related to real estate, such as, but not limited to real estate finance, home inspection, home staging and unlicensed clerical and who shall not be required to hold membership in a local association of REALTORS®. Local affiliate members may not be REALTORS® or licensees engaged in brokerage, rental, management or appraisal of real property or in real estate counseling. Local Affiliate members shall pay only local dues and may attend local meetings, be a member of a committee, and chair a special committee or task force. They may not vote, hold office, use WCR logos or symbols, or avail themselves of national WCR services.
